Southeast Asian Archive Advisory Board

Two years have passed since the Advisory Board was formed to support growth of the collection and promotion of the outreach efforts of the UC Library Southeast Asian Archive. The Board now has new officers and new members. Mr. Dieu Dinh Le is the incoming Chair of the Advisory Board, assisted by Mr. Prany Sananikone as Chair-Elect. Recent appointees to the Board are Dr. Yong Chen, UCI Department of History; Dr. Van Le, former consultant in the Office of Bilingual Services, California State Department of Education; Ms. Phuong Pham, Chair of the Vietnamese American Coalition at UCI; Mr. Thanong Sithosombath, bibliographer and book collector on Laos and Indochina; and Dr. Frederick Wan, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at UCI. Archive. Returning Board members are Ms. Christine Nou, Mr. Diem Hoang Do, Ms. Hao Duong, Mr. Yen Do, Dr. Huynh Dinh Te, Huan D Le. M.D., Dr. Pham Cao Duong, Vu-Dình Minh, M.D., and Ms. Angela Yang.

Sincere thanks to former Board members, Mr. Paokong Chang, Mr. James Lam, Mr. John Liu, Mr. Luu Trung Khao, Dr. Tou Yer Moua, Mr. Dat Huy Phan, and Daniel D. Truong, M.D., for their support of the UCI Library Southeast Asian Archive. Special appreciation goes to Dr. Pham Cao Duong, the Advisory Board's inaugural chair, for his efforts on behalf of the Archive.

The Board meets three times per year. At the January 23rd meeing Dr. Wan discussed future prospects for permanent Southeast Asian curriculum at UCI. Future activities include a March reception in Little Saigon
