Bakka Magazine (www.bakkamagazine.com) is a new online magazine which provides a forum for issue related essays, whimsical stories, poetry, art, and other items of interest. The first issue includes essays on: U.S. policy on the resettlement of Laotian refugees, manuscript collection and preservation at the National Library of Laos; a short story of life in Pakse; poetry, art, and a children’s page. Submissions are welcome and should be emailed in electronic format to submissions@bakkamagazine.com.

Currently, Bakka also is collecting memories of Laotian experiences in Thailand refugee camps, and invites readers to submit personal stories and photographs. For more information please contact info@bakkamagazine.com.

The first issue of the Journal of Vietnamese Studies, a new online and print journal published by the University of California Press , is now available, and for institutional subscribers content can be accessed online at http://caliber. ucpress.net/loi/vs. The journal publishes original social science and humanities research about Vietnamese history, politics, culture and society, as well the Vietnamese diaspora and the Vietnam War. The Journal of Southeast Asian American Education and Advancement (JSAAEA) is now available on-line http://jsaaea.coehd.utsa.edu/index.php/JSAAEA/issue/current. JSAAEA is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal of the National Association for the Education and Advancement of Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese Americans (NAFEA). It provides a forum for scholars and writers from diverse fields who share a common interest in Southeast Asian Americans and their communities.
