ROCK N' VOTE Concert

A free Rock-n-Vote concert will take place at the UCI Bren Event Center on Sunday, October 17, 1999, 1:00-7:00 PM cumulating a campaign over the last few months to register Vietnamese American voters The objective of the Rock-N-Vote concert is to promote Vietnamese American awareness of voter registration and the political significance of the Vietnamese American community in mainstream politics. Rock-N-Vote has been promoting voter registration throughout the Vietnamese community, gearing toward the elections in year 2000. Particularly targeted are Vietnamese American college students. Only 3% of Vietnamese Americans from the age of 18-25 voted in the last election.

Over a hundred top name singers and performance groups have signed on to volunteer their time and talents for the concert. Many distinguished politicians and governmental representatives are also scheduled to appear.
