UCI Student Paper Recognized!

David Frakt, a 1990 UCI graduate and History major, had his senior honors thesis, "The Vietnamese American College Student: Five Lives in Historical Perspective," included as part of the literature review section of a recent Ed.D. dissertation by Peter Kiang at Harvard. David interviewed students at UCI for his work, and had used the Archive. When he gave me a copy of his paper I thought both the quality of work and interest in the topic merited having it cataloged for MELVYL, the University of California's online catalog. It has enjoyed a brisk circulation, including interlibrary loan requests, as evidenced by its inclusion in the above-mentioned dissertation.

Student work is important. I'm always interested in receiving student papers, interview tapes, survey documentation, or other products of research. It all contributes to the body of materials documenting the Southeast Asian American experience.
