First International Conference on Lao Studies (2005)

The Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Northern Illinois University , has announced that the First International Conference on Lao Studies will be held in Dekalb on May 20-22, 2005 . The overall theme is “Promote & Develop,” and the conference will include all ethnic groups in Laos , cross-border groups, and overseas Laotians. Broad categories of topics for papers include: language and linguistics, folk wisdom and literature, history, politics, art, architecture, music, archeology, handicrafts, media and popular culture, health and medicine, information technology, ethno-cultural contact and exchange, etc. One page abstracts are due by March 1, 2005.
