UCI Ph.D. Joins UCLA Faculty

Dr. Thu-Huong Nguyen-Vo will be joining the UCLA faculty in Fall 2001 as an Assistant Professor in Asian American Studies, East Asian Languages and Cultures, and Southeast Asian Studies. She will be teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in these three programs on topics dealing principally with Vietnam and Vietnamese American Studies. Professor Nguyen Vo received her Ph.D. from UCI in Political Science in 1998. She currently is revising her dissertation, Governing the social: Prostitution and liberal governance in Vietnam during marketization, for publication. She also is pursuing a comparative study of garment workers in Vietnam and the U.S.
